MILLER, GIGLIO, McDONOUGH, ORTIZ -- Multi- Sponsored by -- M. of A. CROUCH -- read once and referred to the Committee on Consumer Affairs and Protection AN ACT to amend the banking law, the general business law, the social services law and the insurance law, in relation to a braille option for all identifications cards The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The banking law is amended by adding a new section 3 to 2 read as follows: 3 § 3. Braille option for all identification cards. Any and all finan- 4 cial institutions that issue debit, credit or other identification cards 5 shall, upon request, supply a customer with a card that has either all 6 information written in braille or in both braille and print. 7 § 2. The general business law is amended by adding a new section 397-b 8 to read as follows: 9 § 397-b. Braille option for all identification cards. Any and all 10 financial institutions that issue debit, credit, health or other iden- 11 tification cards shall, upon request, supply a customer with a card that 12 has either all information written in braille or in both braille and 13 print. 14 § 3. The social services law is amended by adding a new section 24 to 15 read as follows: 16 § 24. Braille option for all identification cards. Any and all cards, 17 including, but not limited to identification cards issued by the depart- 18 ment shall, upon request, supply an individual with a card that has 19 either all information written in braille or in both braille and print. 20 § 4. The insurance law is amended by adding a new section 313 to read 21 as follows: 22 § 313. Braille option for all identification cards. Any and all insti- 23 tutions that issue health or other identification cards shall, upon 24 request, supply a customer with a card that has either all information 25 written in braille or in both braille and print. 26 § 5.
