AN ACT to amend the uniform justice court act, in relation to authoriz-
ing a single court facility for adjacent localities
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1 Section 1. The uniform justice court act is amended by adding a new
2 section 106-c to read as follows:
3 S 106-C. MERGER INTO ONE COURT FACILITY FOR ADJACENT TOWNS.
4 UPON COMPLETION OF A REDUCTION IN TOWN JUSTICES IN ADJACENT TOWNS OR
5 THE ELECTION OF A SINGLE TOWN JUSTICE IN ADJACENT TOWNS, AS PRESCRIBED
6 BY THIS ARTICLE, AND UPON APPROVAL FROM THE TOWN BOARDS, SUCH TOWN
7 COURTS MAY MERGE INTO A SINGLE COURT FACILITY TO BE USED AS THE COURT
8 FACILITY FOR ALL SUCH TOWNS. EACH SINGLE COURT FACILITY ESTABLISHED
9 PURSUANT TO THIS SECTION SHALL SERVE EACH TOWN IN THE SAME MANNER AS
10 SEPARATE COURTS SERVE A TOWN AND SUCH COURT SHALL INCLUDE, BUT IS NOT
11 LIMITED TO, THE MANAGEMENT OF RECORDS AND THE TRANSACTIONS OF COURT
12 BUSINESS.
13 S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
