STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 6306--B 2019-2020 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY March 5, 2019 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. ROZIC, SANTABARBARA, McDONALD, McMAHON, BLAKE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee -- again reported from said committee with amendments, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to create the empire state cricket task force; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. There is hereby created the empire state cricket task force 2 to conduct a comprehensive study and create strategies to promote the 3 game of cricket in New York State. The scope of such study shall 4 include: 5 (a) an examination of the various formats of the game of cricket and 6 the location of leagues, clubs, teams, tournaments, academies, colleges, 7 school programs and cricket fields across the state; 8 (b) an examination of the financial impact the sport of cricket could 9 have on local and state economies; 10 (c) the creation of strategies to promote and expand the game of 11 cricket in the state; and 12 (d) a review of any other related information that may assist in 13 carrying out such study of the game of cricket. 14 § 2. The empire state cricket task force shall consist of eight 15 members having experience and expertise in the game of cricket. Such 16 task force shall consist of: two members appointed by the governor; two 17 members appointed by the temporary president of the senate; one member 18 appointed by the minority leader of the senate; two members appointed by 19 the speaker of the assembly; and one member appointed by the minority 20 leader of the assembly. Members of the task force shall receive no compensation but shall 2 be reimbursed for their actual and necessary expenses in the performance 3 of their duties pursuant to this act. 4 § 4. A report of the findings and recommendations of the task force 5 shall be submitted to the governor, the temporary president of the 6 senate, and the speaker of the assembly no more than two years after the 7 effective date of this act. 8 § 5. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be 9 deemed repealed June 30, 2022.
