STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 6140--A 2015-2016 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY March 16, 2015 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. LAVINE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs -- recommitted to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs in accordance with Assembly Rule 3, sec. 2 -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the real property tax law, in relation to tax exemptions for certain veterans The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 458-a of the real property tax law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision 10 to read as follows: 3 10. A county, city, village or school district may adopt a local law 4 or resolution to include those military personnel who served in the 5 Reserve component of the United States Armed Forces that were deemed on 6 active duty under Executive Order 11519 signed March twenty-third, nine- 7 teen hundred seventy, 35 Federal Register 5003, dated March twenty- 8 fourth, nineteen hundred seventy and later designated by the United 9 States Department of Defense as Operation Graphic Hand, if such member 10 was discharged or released therefrom under honorable conditions, 11 provided that such veteran meets all other qualifications of this 12 section. 13 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall apply to assess- 14 ment rolls on the basis of taxable status dates occurring on or after 15 the second day of January next succeeding the date on which this act 16 shall have become a law.
