STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 5897 2023-2024 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY March 24, 2023 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. RIVERA -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Trooper William P. Keane Memorial Bridge" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-o to 2 read as follows: 3 § 344-o. Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the 4 "Trooper William P. Keane Memorial Bridge". The bridge on interstate 5 route one hundred seventy-nine, crossing over interstate route ninety in 6 the town of Hamburg, county of Erie, shall be designated and known as 7 the "Trooper William P. Keane Memorial Bridge". 8 § 2. The chairperson of the New York state thruway authority shall 9 provide for the installation and maintenance of adequate signing of the 10 state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. 11 However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of 12 commerce, the designation called for pursuant to section one of this act 13 shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge 14 shall not be changed as a result of this act. 15 § 3.
