STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 5791 2023-2024 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY March 23, 2023 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. CHANDLER-WATERMAN, TAYLOR -- read once and referred to the Committee on Codes AN ACT in relation to defining the term "mass shooting" for purposes of emergency response measures and access to emergency funding The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. For purposes of emergency response measures and access to 2 emergency funding, the term "mass shooting" shall mean a shooting inci- 3 dent: 4 1. involving one or more firearms as defined in section 265.00 of the 5 penal law; and 6 2. during which four or more people, other than the perpetrator of the 7 shooting or an accomplice of the perpetrator, were injured or killed. 8 § 2.
