       AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to the geograph-
         ic area of employment of police officers employed by the state univer-
         sity
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Paragraph (d) of subdivision 34-a of section  1.20  of  the
    2  criminal  procedure law, as added by chapter 424 of the laws of 1998, is
    3  amended to read as follows:
    4    (d) The geographical area of employment of a police officer  appointed
    5  by  the  state  university is (A) the campuses and other property of the
    6  state university, including any portion of a public highway which cross-
    7  es or abuts such property,  (B)  THE  AREA  DIRECTLY  ADJACENT  TO  SUCH
    8  CAMPUSES AND OTHER PROPERTY OF THE STATE UNIVERSITY, AND (C) ANY AREA OF
    9  THE  STATE WHEN ACTING PURSUANT TO A MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT WITH ANY STATE
   10  OR MUNICIPAL POLICE AGENCY.
   11    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
