       AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to  educational  or
         training work activity requirements
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Section 336 of the social services law is amended by adding
    2  a new subdivision 9 to read as follows:
    3    9. FOR ANY PARTICIPANT ENGAGED IN AN EDUCATIONAL OR TRAINING  ACTIVITY
    4  PURSUANT  TO  PARAGRAPHS (H), (I), (J), (K) OR (N) OF SUBDIVISION ONE OF
    5  THIS SECTION, HOMEWORK EXPECTED OR REQUIRED BY THE EDUCATIONAL  INSTITU-
    6  TION,  INCLUDING  UP  TO  ONE  HOUR OF UNSUPERVISED HOMEWORK PER HOUR OF
    7  CLASS TIME, PLUS ADDITIONAL HOURS OF HOMEWORK SUPERVISED BY  THE  EDUCA-
    8  TIONAL  INSTITUTION,  SHALL  COUNT  TOWARDS  SATISFACTION OF THE PARTIC-
    9  IPANT'S WORK ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS UNDER THIS TITLE, TO THE EXTENT  THAT
   10  SUCH  PARTICIPATION  SHALL  NOT  IMPAIR  THE NEED OF THE SOCIAL SERVICES
   11  DISTRICT TO MEET FEDERAL AND STATE WORK ACTIVITY PARTICIPATION  REQUIRE-
   12  MENTS.
   13    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
