        AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation  to  suspension
          and  revocation information on the driving record of a person licensed
          to drive a motor vehicle
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1.  The  vehicle  and  traffic law is amended by adding a new
     2  section 510-e to read as follows:
     3    § 510-e. Suspension and revocation information on driving  record.  1.
     4  Whenever  a suspension, revocation or expiration of a license to drive a
     5  motor vehicle or motorcycle  occurs,  the  department  shall  enter  the
     6  suspension,  revocation  or  expiration  order on the licensee's driving
     7  record within twenty days after receipt of such information. Any inquiry
     8  into the licensee's driving record after the  twenty  day  period  shall
     9  reveal that the license is suspended, revoked or expired.
    10    2.  The  department  shall work with local law enforcement agencies to
    11  facilitate a uniform means for such agencies to gain immediate electron-
    12  ic access to a licensee's driving  record  and  particularly  access  to
    13  information  regarding  a  licensee's  driving record as entered on such
    14  record pursuant to subdivision one of this section.
    15    § 2. The commissioner of the department of motor vehicles shall submit
    16  a report to the governor, the temporary president of the senate and  the
    17  speaker  of  the assembly on or before January first, two thousand eigh-
    18  teen, summarizing the existing means utilized by law  enforcement  agen-
    19  cies to access information regarding the suspension, revocation or expi-
    20  ration  of  a license to drive a motor vehicle or motorcycle, along with
    21  recommendations for more efficient methods therefor.
    22    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
