       AN ACT to amend the public officers law and the village law, in relation
         to the residency requirements for certain officers in the  village  of
         Cornwall-on-Hudson
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Section 3 of the public officers law is amended by adding a
    2  new subdivision 58 to read as follows:
    3    58. IN THE VILLAGE OF CORNWALL-ON-HUDSON, IN THE COUNTY OF ORANGE, THE
    4  PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION REQUIRING A PERSON TO BE A  RESIDENT  OF  THE
    5  POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OR MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF THE STATE FOR WHICH HE
    6  OR  SHE SHALL BE CHOSEN, OR WITHIN WHICH HIS OR HER OFFICIAL FUNCTION IS
    7  REQUIRED TO BE EXERCISED, SHALL NOT PREVENT A PERSON  FROM  HOLDING  THE
    8  OFFICE  OF  CLERK, DEPUTY CLERK, TREASURER OR DEPUTY TREASURER; PROVIDED
    9  THAT SAID PERSON RESIDES IN THE COUNTY IN WHICH SUCH VILLAGE IS  LOCATED
   10  OR AN ADJOINING COUNTY WITHIN THE STATE OF NEW YORK.
   11    S  2.  Section  3-300  of  the  village law is amended by adding a new
   12  subdivision 20 to read as follows:
   13    20. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY PROVISIONS OF THIS CHAPTER OR ANY OTHER GENER-
   14  AL LAW, LOCAL LAW, ORDINANCE OR SPECIAL ACT, THE VILLAGE BOARD OF  TRUS-
   15  TEES  OF  THE INCORPORATED VILLAGE OF CORNWALL-ON-HUDSON, ORANGE COUNTY,
   16  MAY, BY RESOLUTION, PROVIDE THAT THE  OFFICE  OF  CLERK,  DEPUTY  CLERK,
   17  TREASURER,  OR  DEPUTY TREASURER OF SUCH VILLAGE MAY BE HELD BY A PERSON
   18  WHO IS NOT A RESIDENT OF SUCH VILLAGE, PROVIDED THAT SUCH PERSON RESIDES
   19  IN ORANGE COUNTY OR IN AN ADJOINING COUNTY WITHIN THE STATE OF NEW YORK.
   20    S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
