       AN  ACT  to  amend  the  social  services  law, in relation to expedited
         service in the food stamp program
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1. Section 95 of the social services law is amended by adding
    2  a new subdivision 12 to read as follows:
    3    12. WHENEVER A PERSON MAKES AN APPLICATION FOR  EXPEDITED  SERVICE  OF
    4  THE  FOOD STAMP PROGRAM PURSUANT TO SECTION 387.8 OF TITLE 18 OF THE NEW
    5  YORK STATE CODES, RULES, AND REGULATIONS, THE LOCAL DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL
    6  SERVICES SHALL PROVIDE SUCH FOOD STAMPS TO  SUCH  APPLICANT  WITHIN  THE
    7  NEXT  BUSINESS DAY IF IT IS DETERMINED THAT THE APPLICANT IS ELIGIBLE TO
    8  PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM.
    9    S 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day  after  it  shall
   10  have become a law.
