        AN ACT to amend the  environmental  conservation  law,  in  relation  to
          authorizing  a study of animal life in the vicinity of the Dewey Loef-
          fel Hazardous Waste Site
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1.  Section  49-0103 of the environmental conservation law is
     2  amended by adding a new subdivision 7 to read as follows:
     3    7. Supervise and/or conduct a study of the marine life, amphibians and
     4  mammals inhabiting the area known as the Dewey Loeffel  Hazardous  Waste
     5  Site and the environs of Nassau Lake, Rensselaer County, for the purpose
     6  of scientific analysis of the presence of toxic substances including but
     7  not  limited  to  polychlorinated biphenyls and volatile organic contam-
     8  inants in such wildlife. The department shall,  on  or  before  February
     9  first,  two  thousand nineteen, prepare a report to the governor and the
    10  legislature outlining the specific findings of such study and  assessing
    11  the  viability  of implementation of a similar study which shall include
    12  the residents of that area.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
