     Requires public institutions of higher education to establish policies for the implementation of fees.

An Act concerning fees at public institutions of higher education and supplementing chapter 62 of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    The governing board of a public institution of higher education shall establish an institution-wide policy for the implementation of additional course-related fees including, but not limited to, laboratory fees or special course fees. The policy shall: define which costs are considered in excess of the base instructional costs for each course; require documentation to support the additional course-related fees; prescribe the manner of presenting the fees to the board for approval; and determine the time period of review for the additional fees.    

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill requires public institutions of higher education to establish policies for the implementation of additional course-related fees, such as laboratory fees or special course fees.
