     Requires each general hospital that accepts public funds to hold monthly board meetings that include time for public participation.

An Act concerning board meetings of certain hospitals and supplementing Title 26 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    Each board of trustees of a general hospital that is licensed pursuant to P.L.1971, c.136 (C.26:2H-1 et seq.) and that accepts State or federal funds shall hold a meeting once per month and include a period of time open to the public to discuss issues of concern.  Each meeting shall be publicized at least 14 days in advance of the meeting by posting a written notice in a conspicuous location of the hospital that is available to the public, and by posting a notice of the meeting on the hospital's Internet website at least 14 days prior to the date of the meeting.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect on the 60th day following the date of enactment.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill requires that the board of trustees of a licensed general hospital in the State that accepts State or federal funds hold meetings once per month and provide a period of time during each meeting for the public to raise issues of concern.

     Notice of meetings shall be provided at least 14 days in advance by a written notice posted in a conspicuous public location of the hospital and on the hospital's Internet website.

     The bill takes effect on the 60th day following the date of enactment.
