SB 93-FN-A FISCAL NOTE

AN ACT relative to the alcohol percentage used to classify beverages.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Liquor Commission states this bill, as introduced, may increase state revenue by an indeterminable amount in FY 2016 and each year thereafter. There is no fiscal impact on county and local revenue or state, county, and local expenditures.

METHODOLOGY:

The Liquor Commission states this bill increases the maximum alcohol content from six to eight percent for beverages and specialty beers. The Commission assumes beverages, such as alcopops (sweet often fruit flavored or fizzy alcoholic drinks), with higher alcohol content may appeal to young drinkers, which may result in a small but indeterminable increase in the sales of these beverage products. The Commission has no data to determine the increase in sales of beverages and specialty beers with the higher alcohol content to determine any increase in liquor fund revenues.
