STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twelve

AN ACT relative to traffic control at public meetings or functions.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Paragraph; Police Attendance at Public Meetings or Functions; Exception. Amend RSA 105:9 by inserting after paragraph III-a the following new paragraph:

III-b. If the chief of police determines that a public meeting or function is likely to increase traffic volume or to create traffic-related problems in a city or town, the chief of police shall direct the meeting or function organizer to engage one or more flagpersons to direct, control, and regulate traffic under such terms and conditions as the chief of police deems appropriate given the nature and duration of the meeting or function. Police officers shall not be assigned or detailed to the meeting or function for the purpose of providing traffic control unless their services are requested by the meeting or function organizer or the meeting or function organizer is unable to provide adequate traffic control.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect July 1, 2012.
