A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO STUDY APPRENTICESHIP INCENTIVES, AS RECOMMENDED BY the Joint Legislative Workforce Development SYSTEM REFORM Oversight Committee.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The North Carolina Department of Commerce, in consultation with the North Carolina Community College System, shall study and propose improvements to the NC Works Apprenticeship Program. The study may include proposals to incentivize the program for businesses who participate, including proposals that would reduce the tuition costs that businesses pay for students enrolled. The Department of Commerce shall report its findings, including any legislative proposals, to the Joint Legislative Workforce Development Oversight Committee and the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee no later than October 1, 2016.

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
