A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT providing for increased access to higher education.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 116‑143.1 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:

"(n)      Notwithstanding other provisions of this section, an individual who (i) has attended school in North Carolina for at least three consecutive years immediately prior to graduation and (ii) has received a high school diploma from a school within North Carolina or has obtained a general education diploma (GED) issued in North Carolina shall be accorded resident tuition status."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
