A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING NANCY LANE FROM BRANDON, MISSISSIPPI, UPON HER ELECTION AS THE TREASURER FOR THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (NAR), AND EXTENDING THE RECOGNITION OF THE LEGISLATURE TO HER AS THE FIRST MISSISSIPPIAN ELECTED TO THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF AMERICA'S LARGEST TRADE ASSOCIATION.

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we join the Mississippi Association of REALTORS® in recognizing Nancy Lane, a commercial REALTOR from Brandon, Mississippi, upon her election as Treasurer for the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) in a contested race on May 15, 2020, by the Association's Board of Directors.  She is the first Mississippian to be elected to the Association's seven-member Executive Committee; and

     WHEREAS, NAR is America's largest trade association, representing 1.4 million members, including NAR's institutes, societies and councils, involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries; and

     WHEREAS, the Treasurer of NAR oversees a $500 Million plus business comprised of real property investment, the operating budget, and Second Century Ventures.  The position is a two-year term serving from 2021-2022.  Nancy will be installed in New Orleans in November at the 2020 REALTORS® Conference and EXPO; and

     WHEREAS, for over 40 years, Nancy has advanced, overseen and protected the financial and physical assets of her clients utilizing her commercial brokerage and management skills.  Nancy held the position of Director of Real Estate for 18 years at the McCarty-Holman Company in Jackson, earning her Broker's license and handling sales, leasing, acquisitions and property management for all owned real estate for the company, a portfolio of nearly $40 Million.  In 1996, she earned the prestigious designation of Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and a year later began her own brokerage, Nancy Lane Commercial Realty, Inc., now Lane-Harkins Commercial Real Estate; and

     WHEREAS, in 2005, Nancy Lane served as President of the Mississippi Association of REALTORS®.  During her Presidency, Hurricane Katrina struck the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  As the storm approached, Nancy anticipated the assistance that would be needed, and she worked with Mississippi REALTORS®' CEO and legal counsel to establish the Mississippi REALTORS® Disaster Relief Fund, which raised nearly $4 Million and was distributed to those needing housing-related assistance.  The fund lives on today, continuing to provide support to those needing relief from disasters in Mississippi and across the country; and

     WHEREAS, Nancy Lane's NAR service is extensive with 18 years on committees and nine years on the Board of Directors.  In 2016, Nancy was the Association's Region Vice President for Region 5, the largest of the NAR's Regions covering Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.  She is also a member of the REALTOR® Party Political Action Committee (RPAC) Hall of Fame and President's Circle; and

     WHEREAS, Nancy lives in Brandon, Mississippi, with her husband, Jesse, also a REALTOR® and Past President of NAR's REALTORS® Land Institute.  She is the mother of two and grandmother to five girls; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize a Mississippi business professional who has brought honor to her PEERS, her community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Nancy Lane from Brandon, Mississippi, upon her election as the Treasurer for the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), and extend the recognition of the Legislature to her as the first Mississippian elected to the Executive Committee of America's largest trade association, and our best wishes to Nancy and her family for future successes.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Nancy Lane, forwarded to the National Association of REALTORS® and the Mississippi Association of REALTORS®, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
