AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE SHERIFF OF A COUNTY AND THE POLICE CHIEF OF A MUNICIPALITY TO INSTITUTE A JAMMING SYSTEM WITHIN ANY CORRECTIONAL FACILITY TO JAM UNAUTHORIZED WIRELESS COMMUNICATION WITHIN THE FACILITY BY OFFENDERS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The sheriff of a county and the police chief of a municipality are authorized to operate a jamming system within any correctional facility to prevent, jam, or otherwise interfere with unauthorized wireless communications within the facility by offenders in the facility.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
