Senate Bill 2443

AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT THE PROVISIONS OF THE MISSISSIPPI PUBLIC RECORDS ACT OF 1983 SHALL APPLY TO ANY ENTITY OPERATING A PRIVATE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Any records or reports which relate to the financial aspect or operations of any entity operating a private correctional facility, with the exception of any trade secrets, shall be considered as public records and shall be subject to the provisions of the Mississippi Public Records Act of 1983.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2016.
