A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE SCOTT CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL LADY REBELS GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH CHAD HARRISON FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2013-2014 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION REGION 5 CLASS 2A CHAMPIONSHIP, AND FINISHING AS MHSAA CLASS 2A SOUTH STATE AND MHSAA CLASS 2A STATE RUNNER-UP.

     WHEREAS, the Scott Central High School Lady Rebels Girls Basketball Team finished the 2013-2014 season with a 28-7 record, the MHSAA Region 5 Class 2A Championship, and finishing as MHSAA Class 2A South State and MHSAA Class 2A State runner-up; and

     WHEREAS, Scott Central had a superb season, winning both the Region 5 Regular Season and Tournament Championships, led by high school superstar Victoria Vivians, a senior signed to play for Mississippi State University; and

     WHEREAS, Victoria, who scored 43 points in the State Championship game against H.W. Byers High School, broke Mississippi and National Scoring Records in her prolific high school career, and for her senior season was named Mississippi's Miss Basketball, Mississippi ESPN/Gatorade Player of the Year and Parade All-American; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Rebels have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Chad Harrison and his capable assistant coaches, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Harrison has announced his retirement from coaching the Lady Rebels, and leaves a legacy of winning highlighted by three State Championships; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Rebels have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Scott Central High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state such as the young ladies of the Scott Central High School Lady Rebels Girls Basketball Team, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Scott Central High School Lady Rebels Girls Basketball Team and Head Coach Chad Harrison for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Region 5 Class 2A Championship, and finishing as MHSAA Class 2A South State and MHSAA Class 2A State runner-up, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Scott Central High School, Head Coach Chad Harrison and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
