A RESOLUTION COMMENDING LINDA AND JIMMY COCKROFT AND CONGRATULATING THEM UPON BEING NAMED KING AND QUEEN OF THE 2011 KOSCIUSKO JUNIOR AUXILIARY CHARITY BALL.

     WHEREAS, Jimmy and Linda Cockroft were chosen to serve as the king and queen of the Kosciusko Junior Auxiliary Charity Ball that was held on February 12, 2011, at the Attala County Coliseum; and

     WHEREAS, Linda Cockroft, a lifelong resident of Kosciusko, Mississippi, graduated from Kosciusko High School, attended Mississippi State University where she was a member of the social sorority Delta Delta Delta, and graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Nursing where she obtained undergraduate and graduate degrees; and

     WHEREAS, this lovely and gracious Christian gentle lady is a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Kosciusko, having served as a member of various committees, as Bible Drill leader and as Sunday School teacher; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Cockroft's commitment to serve others is evidenced by her professional choice to be a family nurse practitioner, currently on staff with Mallory Community Health; and

     WHEREAS, Jimmy Cockroft has served with distinction as the Mayor of Kosciusko since 1997 after serving as an alderman since 1993; and

     WHEREAS, the leadership abilities of Mayor Cockroft have been demonstrated by his service on the Mississippi Municipal League Board of Directors, bylaws committee, election committee and as chair of the utilities committee; on the Mississippi Municipal Service Company Board of Directors; and as a founding member and past Chair of the East Central Mississippi Mayors Association; and

     WHEREAS, a dedicated public servant and community leader, Mayor Cockroft is a member of First Baptist Church of Kosciusko where he is involved in the Television Ministry and serves as a deacon; is a member and past President of the Kosciusko Lions Club; and is actively involved in the Kosciusko Mayors Youth Council and various youth sports in the community, such as Dixie Youth baseball, flag football and the Kosciusko Athletic Booster Club; and

     WHEREAS, the love and affection shared by this special couple is an example for all, and their marriage has been blessed with two children, Mary Margaret, who is a Certified Public Accountant in Memphis, and Sam, who is a sophomore at Mississippi State University; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the contributions and accomplishments of individuals who serve in and are recognized by communities within the state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Linda and Jimmy Cockroft and congratulate them upon being named King and Queen of the 2011 Kosciusko Junior Auxiliary Charity Ball.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Linda and Jimmy Cockroft and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
