House Resolution 88

(As Adopted by House)

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF MRS. ALMETA C. DAMPEER AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HER PASSING.

WHEREAS, Almeta C. Dampeer, born on March 17, 1923, departed this earthly life on Friday, March 19, 2010, at the age of 87, to enter into eternal rest with her Heavenly Father, rendering great sorrow and loss to her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, born and raised in Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi, by her late parents, Mr. Clifton Campbell, Sr., and Mrs. Florence Eva Campbell, Mrs. Dampeer was a graduate of Lanier High School and subsequently attended and graduated from Campbell College, that later became Jackson State University and received a bachelor's degree in education; and

WHEREAS, commencing her professional career as an educator in Hinds County and spending much of the remainder of her teaching career in the Madison County Public School District, Mrs. Dampeer was a staunch advocate for the educational success of all children, cultivating and enhancing the minds of those pupils under her tutelage and instruction; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Dampeer, a reverent woman of charm and grace who loved the Lord, was independent in the performance of her tasks as an educator, and after meeting Mr. Earl C. Dampeer, Sr., at life's intersection of love, was equally as dutiful in her responsibilities as a wife and mother, imparting those quality characteristic traits with her family; and

WHEREAS, a lifelong dedicated member of the Cade Chapel Baptist Church, where she confessed an early hope in and accepted Christ, she was faithful in her Christian service as a member of the choir, the Circle of Hope and the Junior Matron's League; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Dampeer's passing signifies the loss of a devoted wife, mother and grandmother but also a confidant full of wise counsel and a close friend who was always available to share an encouraging word and demonstrate unwavering support; and

WHEREAS, though she has now traversed the rivers of life to stand on golden heavenly shores to await the calling of the roll from the Lamb's Book of Life, the legacy of her endearing memory will continue to last in the lives of her survivors, including her husband of 57 years, Earl C. Dampeer, Sr.; daughters, Regina Jones and Gwendolyn Dampeer; sons, Earl C. Dampeer, Jr., Darryl R. Dampeer, Keith L. Dampeer and Wayne A. Dampeer; sister, Eleanor Campbell; grandchildren, Clifton, Tyffine, Anderia, Aundra, Genishia and Treather; and a host of other relatives and friends; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the life of such a caring and gentle soul as Mrs. Dampeer, whose passing is the holy will of God manifested in the time and sequence predestined by Him before our birth:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life and legacy of Mrs. Almeta C. Dampeer and express deepest sympathy to her family and friends upon her passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mrs. Dampeer and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
