A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE HEROISM OF EVERYDAY HEROES MR. EDWARD WALKER AND MR. LEONARD CLAY, WHO HELPED SAVE THE LIVES OF TWO GENTLEMEN IN THEIR COMMUNITY IN URGENT NEED OF HELP, AND EXTENDING BEST WISHES FOR CONTINUED RECOVERY FOR MR. OTIS ROBERTSON AND MR. ELLIOTT.
WHEREAS, on February 12, 2019, Mr. Otis Robertson was on his way to work in Aberdeen, Mississippi, when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident leaving him pinned inside his truck that was smoking underneath the hood; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Edward Walker arrived on the scene and shortly thereafter Mr. Leonard Clay arrived to assist; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Walker and Mr. Clay heroically removed Mr. Robertson from his truck, and as soon as they did the truck exploded; and
WHEREAS, EMS arrived on the scene and took Mr. Robertson to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, where he underwent multiple surgeries and is currently still recovering; and
WHEREAS, the other victim of the horrific accident, Mr. Elliott, required removal from his truck by the jaws of life and required critical care management and is still recovering as well; and
WHEREAS, without the quick actions of Mr. Walker and Mr. Clay, the outcome for the two injured men likely would have been much different, and certainly Mr. Robertson may not be here today; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend everyday heroes such as Mr. Walker and Mr. Clay, who helped their neighbors in their urgent time of need, bringing great pride to their community and the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize the heroism of Mr. Edward Walker and Mr. Leonard Clay, and extend best wishes for continued recovery for Mr. Otis Robertson and Mr. Elliott.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Edward Walker, Mr. Leonard Clay, Mr. Otis Robertson and Mr. Elliott, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
