A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE GERMANTOWN HIGH SCHOOL MAVERICKS BASEBALL PROGRAM FOR WINNING THE 2015 NATIONAL FIELD OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR MAVERICK FIELD.

     WHEREAS, on December 4, 2015, Maverick Field, home of the Germantown High School Mavericks Baseball Team in Madison, Mississippi, was honored as the recipient of the National Field of the Year Award given by the National High School Baseball Coaches Association; and

     WHEREAS, on the path to the national award, Maverick Field was named one of eight regional winners across the United States in late June, claiming the Southern Region Field of the Year Award; and

     WHEREAS, a field of the caliber as that of Maverick Field not only ensures the games played on it will go smoothly, but also a point of pride for the team and the school as well; and

     WHEREAS, the fact that Mavericks Baseball is only a four-year-old program and has won this prestigious award speaks volumes to the kids, parents and other adults who have put in the time and effort to make sure that the student body of Germantown High School have an awesome facility to play ball well into the future; and

     WHEREAS, the success of Maverick Field has been realized because of the hard work and diligence of the following individuals:  Head Coach Brian Hardy; Assistant Coaches Wesly Bolden, Brent Brownlee, Presley Hill, Gregg Perry and Drew Crowell; Superintendent of Madison County Schools Dr. Ronnie McGehee; Principal of Germantown High School Wesley Quick; Athletic Director of Germantown High School Tim Shramek; and many others; and

     WHEREAS, everyone knows that great sports programs call the State of Mississippi home, and this award recognizes the Mavericks Baseball program as one of those great programs; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to acknowledge the high school athletics programs of this state, such as the Mavericks, whose national recognition for their professional and awe-inspiring field brings great pride to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Germantown High School Mavericks Baseball Team upon receiving the National Field of the Year Award, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of the team's future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Germantown High School, Head Coach Brian Hardy and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
