A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING AND COMMENDING THE EXCEPTIONALLY DILIGENT SERVICE MRS. SHARON WALKER RENDERED TO THE OCEAN SPRINGS SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Sharon Walker, an esteemed and revered member of the Ocean Springs School District Board of Trustees since 1997, and immediate past board president, fulfilled her last call of duty to the board on February 5, 2013, after 16 years of reputable service; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure on the board of trustees, Mrs. Walker has served in various capacities, each position giving credence to her character as one endowed with an independent and forward-thinking spirit who has provided guidance and wisdom in the deliberations of the Ocean Springs School District Board of Trustees with tolerance, dignity and great patience; and
WHEREAS, diligently working with other trustees, she has led the district as both an instructor and through her service on the board, always keeping at the forefront of her actions the best interests of the children of the school district; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Walker worked closely with school personnel and municipal leaders to lead the district through many leadership changes, staff improvements, curriculum modifications and school construction, reconfiguration of the system and leading the charge to hire the most qualified superintendent prospect in the nation; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Walker has been the voice of reason and an advocate for a qualified and enhanced educational experience for students and teachers alike, and can truly be characterized as a true champion of education; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this the Legislature to recognize individuals of Mrs. Walker's caliber, whose contributions to the educational process have and continue to mold and shape the lives of students, past and present, who are the promise of tomorrow's future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby acknowledge and commend the exceptionally diligent service Mrs. Sharon Walker rendered to the Ocean Springs School District Board of Trustees after 16 years of faithful and dedicated service and extend best wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Walker and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
