House Bill 924

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE NORTH BOLIVAR CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE PURPOSE OF ASSISTING THE DISTRICT IN PAYING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH MAKING REPAIRS, RENOVATIONS AND UPGRADES AT TWO HIGH SCHOOLS OF THE DISTRICT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2021.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Board of Trustees of the North Bolivar Consolidated School District for the purposes described in Section 2 of this act for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2020, and ending June 30, 2021   $ 1,500,000.00.

     SECTION 2.  The money appropriated by Section 1 of this act shall be expended by the Board of Trustees of the North Bolivar Consolidated School District as follows:

          (a)  Not more than Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($750,000.00) shall be used to assist the district in paying costs associated with the repair, renovation, rehabilitation and/or replacement of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC) and the water and plumbing systems of Broad Street High School; and

          (b)  Not more than Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($750,000.00) shall be used to assist the district in paying costs associated with making upgrades to the vocational and technical education program operated at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School.

     SECTION 3.  The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2020.
