AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF TUNICA COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRIBUTE FUNDS TO TUNICA HEAD START CENTER FOR THE PURPOSE OF OPERATING AND MAINTAINING A COMPREHENSIVE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IN TUNICA COUNTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The Board of Supervisors of Tunica County, Mississippi, may, in its discretion, contribute from any available county fund, an amount not to exceed an amount equal to the avails of point four (.4) mills during fiscal years 2017, 2018 and 2019 to Tunica Head Start Center a Mississippi not—for—profit corporation.

     The funds provided to Tunica Head Start Center pursuant to this section, shall be used to provide comprehensive development within Tunica County, Mississippi, including, but not limited to, promoting school readiness for young children from low-income families, influencing early learning through planned and spontaneous instruction, implementing learning structures that produce growth in literacy and language, early math and science concepts, and social and emotional development, and supplying parental and family support in housing stability, continued education, and financial security.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
