AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF WARREN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRACT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS TO PROVIDE CORRECTIONAL SERVICES TO WARREN COUNTY FOR THE CONFINEMENT OF INMATES SUBJECT TO THE JURISDICTION OF WARREN COUNTY INCLUDING THOSE AWAITING TRANSFER TO ANY OTHER JURISDICTION OR FACILITY; TO PROVIDE THAT IT SHALL BE LAWFUL FOR SUCH FACILITY TO BE LOCATED IN WARREN COUNTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The Board of Supervisors of Warren County, Mississippi, is authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to contract with the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a regional correctional facility. 

     (2)  It shall be lawful for there to be located within Warren County, Mississippi, a regional correctional facility operated pursuant to a contractual agreement, as authorized under subsection (1) of this section, between Warren County, Mississippi, and the Mississippi Department of Corrections with strict guidelines and consistent oversight of the Department of Corrections to provide for the confinement of inmates who are subject to the jurisdiction of Warren County including those awaiting transfer to any other jurisdiction or facility.  Any person confined in such a facility pursuant to the laws of the jurisdiction from which he or she is sent shall be considered lawfully confined within this state.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
