House Bill 1094

AN ACT TO REQUIRE HOSPITALS TO HAVE PERSONS WHO PRESENT THEMSELVES TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM WITH SYMPTOMS OF POSSIBLE SICKLE CELL DISEASE EXAMINED BY A PHYSICIAN WITHIN FOUR HOURS AFTER THE PERSON IS ADMITTED TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  When a person presents himself or herself to a hospital emergency room with symptoms of possible sickle cell disease, the hospital shall have the person examined by a physician within four (4) hours after the person is admitted to the emergency room.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2017.
