Summary
An Act Entitled The "save Our Roads Act Of 2010"; To Provide That Twenty-five Percent Of The Proceeds From An Increase In The Gasoline Excise Tax Shall Be Allocated To Fund A Loan Program Under Which Counties And Municipalities May Obtain Loans To Construct, Repair, Renovate, Rehabilitate And Improve County And Municipal Roads; To Provide That Seventy-five Percent Of Such Proceeds Shall Be Allocated To The Construction, Reconstruction, Replacement, Rehabilitation And Improvement Of State-maintained Highways And Bridges On Those Highways; To Establish The Local Governments Road Improvement Project Revolving Loan Program, To Be Administered By The Mississippi Department Of Transportation; To Require That The Maximum Amount Of A Loan Under The Program Is Fifty Percent Of The Costs Of The Specific Project For Which The Loan Is Made; To Require That The County Or Municipality Receiving A Loan Under The Program Shall Match At Least Fifty Percent Of The Costs Of The Specific Project For Which The Loan Is Made; To Amend Section 27-55-11, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Increase The Gasoline Excise Tax By Five Cents Per Gallon; To Amend Section 27-5-101, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That Twenty-five Percent Of The Proceeds Of The Tax Increase Shall Be Deposited Into The Local Governments Road Improvement Project Revolving Loan Fund, And That Seventy-five Percent Of Such Proceeds Shall Be Deposited Into A Special Account Within The State Highway Fund, To Be Expended Solely For The Purpose Of The Construction, Reconstruction, Replacement, Rehabilitation And Improvement Of State-maintained Highways And Bridges On Those Highways; To Amend Sections 19-9-5 And 21-33-303, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Conform To The Provisions Of This Act; And For Related Purposes.
