AN ACT

To amend chapter 208, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to supplemental food stamp assistance.




Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:


            Section A. Chapter 208, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 208.245, to read as follows:

            208.245. 1. Subject to appropriations, the family support division is authorized, in accordance with rules of the department, to assist needy elderly individuals to obtain supplemental assistance from the state of Missouri through a supplemental food stamp program. Only those individuals sixty-five years of age or older who qualify for food stamp assistance under the Federal Food Stamp Program in accordance with federal and state requirements as set forth in 7 U.S.C. Sections 2014 and 2015 shall be eligible to receive such supplemental assistance.

            2. The program shall provide supplemental assistance to households comprised of one eligible elderly individual or two eligible elderly individuals, both of whom are at least sixty-five years of age. Each household shall be entitled to receive state supplemental assistance as follows:

            (1) A Missouri household composed of one eligible elderly individual shall receive supplemental assistance not to exceed thirty dollars per month, less such member's current federal benefit earned under the Federal Food Stamp Program;

            (2) A Missouri household composed of two eligible elderly individuals shall receive supplemental assistance not to exceed sixty dollars per month, less the household's current federal benefit earned under the Federal Food Stamp Program.

            3. The provisions of this section shall expire August 28, 2012.
