AN ACT

To amend chapter 115, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to election authority duties.




Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:


            Section A. Chapter 115, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 115.026, to read as follows:

            115.026. Any election authority may conduct a record check to determine whether a person filing a declaration of candidacy under this chapter is prohibited by any law from filing as a candidate for the particular election for which the person is filing a declaration of candidacy. The election authority may charge a fee not to exceed ten dollars to cover the costs of conducting such record check, and if the fee is not sufficient to cover the costs of the record check, the election authority shall not be required to conduct the record check.
