1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating 2010 MAPSS Soil Scientist of the Year Larissa Schmitt of
1.3Duluth.
1.4WHEREAS, Larissa Schmitt works to identify, describe, and characterize soil and
1.5landscapes for the Natural Resource Conservation Service; and
1.6WHEREAS, Schmitt led a ten-person crew in the soil mapping of 80,000 acres in
1.7Kochiching County; and
1.8WHEREAS, Schmitt shares her insight and scientific rigor in work across the country and
1.9abroad, and shares her time at home through volunteer work at the YMCA and her local food
1.10shelf; and
1.11WHEREAS, for her accomplishments in the field of soil science, the Minnesota
1.12Association of Professional Soil Scientists has named Larissa Schmitt their Soil Scientist of
1.13the Year for 2010; and
1.14NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.15it congratulates Larissa Schmitt on this unique honor and recognizes her contributions to the
1.16scientific community of Minnesota.
1.17BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.18enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.19Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Larissa Schmitt.
