1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Hopkins High School girls basketball team on winning
1.3the 2012 State High School Class AAAA basketball championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Hopkins Royals finished their regular season with an outstanding 27 - 1
1.7record and earned the top seed at the 2012 State High School Class AAAA girls basketball
1.8tournament held March 14-17, 2012, at Target Center; and
1.9WHEREAS, they powered past Lakeview North and Eastview by a combined score of 106
1.10to 60 to reach the championship game; and
1.11WHEREAS, the Royals posted yet another decisive score in defeating the Orioles of Osseo
1.1277 to 55 to win the AAAA state championship; and
1.13NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.14congratulations are extended to the members of the Hopkins High School girls basketball team on
1.15winning the 2012 State High School Class AAAA basketball championship.
1.16BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.17an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.18the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal
1.19of Hopkins High School.
