1.3Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. LOW-INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
1.6(LIHEAP); APPROPRIATION.
1.7$20,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of commerce
1.8in fiscal year 2014 for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for
1.9the purpose of providing additional heating assistance funds to eligible households. The
1.10commissioner shall follow the federal rules and guidelines for this appropriation, and may
1.11implement expanded eligibility guidelines. If available, federal funds must be spent first.
1.12The commissioner may retain up to four percent of available federal funds as carryforward
1.13funds for the next program year. This is a onetime appropriation and is available until spent.
1.14EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
