1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to natural resources; applying open meeting law to certain treaty-related
1.3meetings; requiring aquatic invasive species report;proposing coding for new
1.4law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 97A.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. [97A.17] 1837 TREATY RIGHTS; OPEN MEETINGS.
1.7Meetings involving the Department of Natural Resources, Ojibwe bands, and the
1.8Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission regarding 1837 treaty rights are subject
1.9to the open meeting requirements under chapter 13D. Up to five members of the Mille
1.10Lacs Fishery Input Group must be allowed to attend any meeting under this section.

1.11    Sec. 2. AQUATIC INVASIVE SPECIES; MILLE LACS AND CEDED
1.12TERRITORIES; REPORT.
1.13The commissioner of natural resources shall provide a report to the Mille Lacs
1.14Fishery Input Group describing the extent to which state law and the Department of Natural
1.15Resources require containment of aquatic invasive species in Lake Mille Lacs and the ceded
1.16territories and the existing enforcement mechanisms to achieve containment in those areas.
