1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to human services; waiving background study fees for prospective
1.3adoptive parents;amending Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 260C.601,
1.4subdivision 3.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 260C.601, subdivision 3, is amended to
1.7read:
1.8    Subd. 3. Background study. (a) Consistent with section 245C.33 and United States
1.9Code, title 42, section 671, a completed background study is required before the adoptive
1.10placement of the child in a related or an unrelated home.
1.11(b) The commissioner shall waive all fees associated with completion of background
1.12studies for prospective adoptive parents and families when these individuals apply to
1.13adopt a child under the guardianship of the commissioner.
