A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled
"The insurance code of 1956,"
(MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 3406u.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 3406u. If an insurer issues a health insurance policy in
this state that initially provides a particular type of coverage
with a certain dollar limit for the insured, on renewal of the
health insurance policy, the insurer shall not discontinue coverage
for the particular type of coverage if all of the following apply:
(a) The insured used the coverage.
(b) The insured pays the policy premiums.
(c) The insured has not committed fraud or misrepresentation
with respect to the policy.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act applies to health
insurance policies delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed in
this state before, on, or after the effective date of this
amendatory act.
