HOUSE BILL No. 5658

     A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled

 

"Public health code,"

 

by amending section 12431 (MCL 333.12431), as amended by 2005 PA

 

43.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 12431. (1) A migratory labor housing fund is created

 

within the state treasury and shall receive funds appropriated by

 

the legislature and as provided under section 12411(4) this part.

 

The state treasurer may receive money or other assets from any

 

source for deposit into the fund. The state treasurer shall direct

 

the investment of the fund. The state treasurer shall credit to the

 

fund interest and earnings from fund investments. The department

 

shall be the administrator of the fund for auditing purposes.


 

     (2) An employer of migratory farm laborers may receive a grant

 

from Money in the fund of not more than 50% of the costs of an

 

extensive remodeling which costs shall not exceed $10,000.00 be

 

used for implementation of this part.

 

     (3) A grant pursuant to subsection (2) may be made on the

 

basis of a matching payment, grant, or other aid from a person or

 

the federal government.

 

     (4) A grant shall not be made if the remodeling does not meet

 

the requirements of a law or rule.

 

     (3) (5) Money in the fund at the close of the fiscal year

 

shall remain in the fund and shall not lapse to the general fund.
