HOUSE BILL NO. 4920

A bill to amend 1846 RS 2, entitled

"Of the legislature,"

(MCL 4.82 to 4.85) by adding section 2a.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 2a. (1) Notwithstanding any court order to the contrary, if a settlement agreement that provides for the payment of money is entered following a claim of sexual assault or sexual harassment committed by a legislator, the senate or house of representatives of this state shall upon request make available to the public the name of the legislator identified in the claim and the amount of the settlement.

(2) Subsection (1) applies to a settlement agreement that is entered on or after the effective date of the amendatory act that added this section.

(3) As used in this section, "legislator" means a member of the senate or the house of representatives of this state.
