HOUSE BILL No. 4843

     A bill to amend 1980 PA 350, entitled

 

"The nonprofit health care corporation reform act,"

 

(MCL 550.1101 to 550.1704) by adding section 416e.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 416e. (1) A health care corporation group or nongroup

 

certificate that provides coverage for chemotherapy treatment of

 

cancer shall include coverage for a prescribed, orally administered

 

anticancer medication used to kill or slow the growth of cancerous

 

cells.

 

     (2) Coverage under subsection (1) shall not be subject to any

 

prior authorization, dollar limit, copayment, deductible, or

 

coinsurance provision that does not apply to intravenously

 

administered or injected anticancer medications used to kill or

 


slow the growth of cancerous cells.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect January

 

1, 2010.
