A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled
"Public health code,"
(MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding section 16185a.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 16185a. (1) An individual may practice a health
profession at a free medical clinic in this state without being
licensed under this act if all of the following requirements are
met:
(a) The individual is licensed or otherwise authorized to
practice a health profession by any state of the United States.
(b) The individual restricts his or her practice in this state
solely to the provision of care or services without charge or
remuneration at a free medical clinic.
(c) The individual provides only the care or services that he
or she is licensed or otherwise authorized to provide by the state
in which he or she is licensed or authorized.
(d) The individual provides a copy of his or her current out-
of-state license or authorization to practice to the free medical
clinic. A free medical clinic shall retain a copy of a license or
authorization provided under this subdivision for 2 years.
(2) As used in this section:
(a) "Free medical clinic" means an organized, community-based
program that provides medical care without charge to individuals
unable to pay for it, at which the care provided does not include
the use of general anesthesia or require an overnight stay in a
health care facility.
(b) "State" means that term as defined in section 3o of 1846
RS 1, MCL 8.3o.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days
after the date it is enacted into law.
