A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled
"The Michigan penal code,"
(MCL 750.1 to 750.568) by adding section 421d.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 421d. (1) A person shall not install or reinstall in a
vehicle a nonoperative air bag or object in lieu of an operative
air bag that was designed in accordance with federal safety
regulations for the make, model, and year of that vehicle as part
of the vehicle inflatable restraint system.
(2) A person who violates subsection (1) is guilty of a
misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 1 year or
a fine of not more than $5,000.00, or both.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days
after the date it is enacted into law.
