Summary

Create a new section of KRS Chapter 218A to define terms and to establish a voluntary non-opioid directive form to inform practitioners that an opioid drug shall not be prescribed, ordered, or administered to a patient who has filed the form with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services; amend KRS 218A.172 to require a practitioner to determine if a patient has filed a voluntary non-opioid directive and to provide the patient with a copy of the form prior to prescribing an opioid drug; amend KRS 218A.202 to provide that the electronic monitoring system established in that section permits the cabinet to report and document receipt of a voluntary non-opioid directive and permits a practitioner to determine if a patient has filed a voluntary non-opioid directive.
