A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Casey Hennings on
winning the Regional Spelling Bee.

MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Casey Hennings
on winning the Regional Spelling Bee.
Whereas, Casey Hennings out-spelled her opponents to
win the 18th annual Journal & Courier Scripps Regional
Spelling Bee, held at Sunnyside Middle School in Lafayette,
Indiana;
Whereas, After almost two hours of spelling rounds,
Casey sealed the victory with a perfect spelling of
"soothsayer";
Whereas, Casey's winning approach to the competition
was to use the back of her number tag to sketch out the word
before spelling it;
Whereas, Casey is a 7th grade student at Kankakee
Valley Middle School, and lives in Demotte, Indiana;
Whereas, Casey's victory earned her a slot to compete at the 84th Scripps National Spelling Bee on June 1st and 2nd, 2011, at the Gaylord National in Maryland, near
Washington, D.C.; and
Whereas, Casey Hennings victory at the Regional
Spelling Bee is an amazing accomplishment and Hoosiers
everywhere wish her good luck at the National Spelling Bee:
Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate congratulates Casey Hennings
on winning the Regional Spelling Bee.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to
transmit a copy of this Resolution to Casey Hennings.
