MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION honoring World War II veteran
Donald E. Kiser for his courageous defense of our Nation.
Whereas, Staff Sergeant Donald Kiser served during World
War II from 1942 - 1945 in the 4169th AAF Base Unit, 94th
Heavy Bomber Group, based out of Rougham Field in Bury St.
Edmunds, England;
Whereas, In 1944, Donald completed 29 missions in a B-17
fighter plane called 'Mission Mistress' over Germany, France,
Belgium, and Czechoslovakia as a Ball Turret Gunner, with
numerous confirmed successful missions;
Whereas, During a mission over Brux, Donald witnessed 65
U.S. aircraft, each plane carrying 10 men, shot down from the
sky. As a result, hundreds of parachutes filled the skyline
around Donald's turret. Later that evening, German
propaganda confirmed the details of the battle;
Whereas, It has been a great honor for Donald to have had
the opportunity and privilege to serve his Country; and
Whereas, The People of Indiana thank Donald Kiser for defending our Nation and preserving our freedom: Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate honors Donald E. Kiser for his courageous and valiant service to the United States during World War II.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Donald E. Kiser.
