A SENATE RESOLUTION urging the legislative council to establish an interim study committee to study the creation of an industrial zone for automotive related industry.
January 4, 2012, read first time and referred to Committee on Commerce and Economic
Development.
MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION urging the legislative council to
establish an interim study committee to study the creation of an
industrial zone for automotive related industry.
Whereas, The area bounded by State Road 28 on the
south, U.S. Highway 24 on the north, Interstate 69 on the
east, and U.S. Highway 31 on the west has a history rich in
automotive innovation and technological discovery;
Whereas, The creation of an industrial zone for
automotive related industries would help the area generate
new businesses;
Whereas, An industrial zone dealing with automotive
related industries would help reduce the already high
unemployment rate in the region by generating new jobs; and
Whereas, Possible incentives that may be studied by an
interim study committee would include tax credits and
regulatory relief programs to entice new industries into this
zone: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the legislative council is urged to establish an
interim study committee to study the possibility of creating an
industrial zone for automotive related industry.
SECTION 2. That the committee, if established, shall operate under the direction of the legislative council, and that the committee shall issue a final report when directed to do so by the council.
