A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing Heltonville
Elementary School for their academic growth identified through the
Indiana Growth Model.
Whereas, Heltonville Elementary School is one of the
top five elementary schools in the state recognized for their
academic growth, as identified through the Indiana Growth
Model. Heltonville Elementary was recognized specifically
for its growth on the ISTEP+ (Indiana Statewide Testing for
Educational Progress-Plus) exam from 2009-2010;
Whereas, The Indiana Growth Model is a powerful
tool used to understand the progress of students based on
where each individual student begins. The Indiana Growth
Model uses ISTEP+ scores in a new way to help parents,
schools, corporations, and the state to understand how
schools are progressing from year to year;
Whereas, The Indiana Growth Model also provides a
common measure to show how much growth the students of
each school have achieved. The goal of the model is to focus
on the outputs of education and expect progress from all
students, not just those close to passing;
Whereas, The expectation at the Indiana Department
of Education is for all students to achieve one year of growth
no matter where they start; and
Whereas, Heltonville Elementary is recognized for its
demonstrated commitment to the academic achievement of its
students: Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly congratulates
Heltonville Elementary School on being recognized for their academic
growth identified through the Indiana Growth Model.
SECTION 2.
The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Heltonville Elementary
School and the Indiana Department of Education.
